Prerequisites
The following connection configurations must be applied:
- Port 4318 must be opened to allow outgoing connections
- The instance must have public internet connectivity
- The instance must allow for SSH access for initial configuration
Installing Fluent Bit
Fluent Bit can be installed through a variety of means depending on the specific needs and application stack. See the Fluent Bit getting started documentation for options and resources.
Configuring Fluent Bit
Configuration can be accomplished by modifying the fluent-bit.conf file within your Fluent Bit installation. The following example configuration can be applied to monitor a given log file:
Note: If you’re combining this example with an existing Fluentbit configuration file, the SERVICE block should not be repeated.
After configuration
After configuring the fluent-bit.conf, Fluentbit can be started (or restarted if already running.) Upon selecting the relevant instance in Datable, the generated logs should appear in the Telemetry page. Note that existing logs will not be sent to Datable and Fluentbit will only send newly generated logs.
